All Auric Cain ever wanted was a chance.

A chance to prove himself. A chance to take control of his life. A chance to be more than a lowly D-Tier, the lowest of the low, in a world broken by the arrival of an alien, enigmatic being known as The System.

And the seemingly endless hordes of Gateborn that accompanied it.

But chances are hard to come by in the fallen remains of humanity. A century of decline, of desperate struggle, making just surviving another day challenging enough. Let alone striking out to find and challenge an Ascension Gate.

Or in Auric’s case, even getting permission to try.

But when he finally takes matters into his own hands, that's when he finally gets his chance. A chance that sets off a chain of events that no one, let alone him, could have ever anticipated. A chain of events that could very well reshape Reality itself.

Unless he can find a way to stop it.

He proved himself, took control of his life, and became stronger than he ever thought possible. So why is everything falling apart? Literally.

With the help of allies old and new, Auric thwarted Salvo’s plan and narrowly avoided cataclysm. But in the wake of that confrontation, something went very, very wrong.

Now everywhere Auric turns he sees that his home, his world, and even the System itself are coming apart at the seams. Entropic gateborn roam the wilds unchecked while rogue storms and freak anomalies spring up seemingly at random. And worse, there’s rumors of something coming in the distance. Something that arrives without warning and leaves only the shattered remnants of reality in its wake.

Auric achieved the power he’s always dreamed of, but with Salvo gone, there’s no one left to stand beside him. To figure out why the System’s unraveling. To fight against the oncoming chaos. If he’s going to survive, he’ll have to delve deeper into the inner workings of the System than anyone ever has before—right back to where it all began.

Auric Cain found his chance, and if he’s lucky, he might live to regret it.

Auric Cain saved Earth—and doomed himself.

At least, that was the plan when he dragged the Prophet with him into the purgatorial abyss. It was working, too, right up until they landed in a new instance: West’s home world.

It’s an alien, hostile place the likes of which no human has ever seen, where predators lurk behind every fern and trunk. If Auric’s not meant to be prey in this place, then why is he so tasty and bite-sized?

Worse still, the Prophet didn’t just survive the journey to this new instance, he’s taken root and grown into a fearsome new form. Could he be behind the strange rot that’s consuming the world’s vast jungles? Or is it something even more sinister?

And what about the bone towers? What secrets are hidden within their skeletal walls? If Auric’s going to find answers—and even hope to defeat the Prophet once and for all—he’ll have to make allies in a world without humans and master new powers in a place where the rules of the System are entirely changed.

Auric Cain fled a dying world—only to land somewhere worse.

Barely surviving the collapse of an entire planet, Auric and West have escaped to the only place they could. Unfortunately, that place is a world out of time—or perhaps—frozen in it? A shattered, purgatorial instance where gravity doesn’t make sense, ancient guardians slumber, and the secrets of the inner workings of the System wait to be uncovered.

In this place, staying alive is unlikely. Staying sane even less so.

Worse still, Auric and West aren’t alone. A one-time friend turned enemy has been trapped, scarred, and transformed by this makeshift prison. Together, they must break the locks of this world, master a new Path full of unique abilities, and unravel the truth about the identity of the Administrator.

And if they manage all that, they might just earn a chance to go home.
